Tim is up for best music or variety act, best tour (Tim Minchin and His Orchestra) and best DVD (Ready For This).
Stewart Lee has also been nominated in the Best DVD category for his show If You Prefer a Milder Comedian, Please Ask For One alongside Bill Bailey and Simon Amstell.
Other acts nominated include Edinburgh winner Russell Kane, Dara O’Briain, Bo Burnham, Michael McIntyre and Greg Davies.
Steve Coogan’s return as Alan Partridge in Mid Morning Matters has also been nominated in the Internet award.
The winners will be announced on 7th February in a ceremony hosted by Al Murray.
Al told Chortle: ‘The British have the greatest sense of humour in the world, everyone knows that, that’s why God gave us Fawlty Towers and not the Germans – they wouldn’t have got it.
‘The Chortle Awards is a chance to celebrate the best and brightest in British comedy and therefore the world.’
