Dom Joly has revealed that he’s planning a big screen outing for his hidden camera show Trigger Happy TV.

In an interview with Metro Joly said: ‘I’m trying to get a Trigger Happy film made. Films take an extraordinary amount of time to get made. It’ll be the Ben Hur of hidden camera.

‘I want epic scenes of 1,000 Amish people chasing me, so it’s tricky to get done.’

The last series of Trigger Happy TV which included Joly screaming into a giant phone and featured people dressed in animal suits spontaneously fighting in the street was made 2002 before a U.S. version sporadicly featured Joly in was made in 2003.

Joly is promoting his new travel book The Dark Tourist, in which he documents his travels to unlikely tourist destinations such as Chernobyl, Hiroshima and North Korea.

On visiting the nuclear devastated Chernobyl Joly said it was extraordinary: ‘There’s a 50-mile zone around the reactor and no one’s gone in there for 26 years.

‘We went to the nearby town of Pripyat, from where 50,000 people were evacuated. I knew my round and couldn’t understand why until I realised I’d been playing Call of Duty 4 and they’ve based the town in the game of Pripyat.

Walking around the exclusion zone he added: ‘We were walking around and suddenly an old woman would wave at us from her garden, showing us her unnaturally large carrots.’

I’m pretty sure that wasn’t in the game…
