Christmas can be hard time of year for some people but imagine being told you’re dead! That’s what happened to a number of celebrities over the festive period after rumours started circulating that they had all died in snowboarding accidents.

Eddie Murphy, Charlie Sheen, Aretha Franklin, Owen Wilson and Adam Sandler all found themselves confirming their earthly credentials to relatives after a Boxing Day rumour started saying each had crashed into a tree in a Swiss ski resort. How creative.

However, after the year Two and a Half Men star Sheen had in 2010, it may not have been that far fetched to have believed it…

Sheen told The Insider: ‘When I heard on the news that I had died the other day, I quickly ran to my PC and checked the ratings for my show.’

Looking at the stats he said: ‘Hmmm… that’s odd, all the numbers appeared solid. Perhaps even up a bit.

‘You can only imagine my relief when I discovered shortly afterward that they were referring to my actual literal death. That I can survive.’
