Will Ferrell has been named as this year’s recipient of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humour, one of the States’ highest comedic honours.

As is tradition, they recipient gets a whole night dedicated to their hilarious self and the Anchorman leg-end will be awarded his prize at a televised tribute dinner in October BBC News writes.

He’ll joins the likes of Richard Pryor, Steve Martin and Billy Crystal who have previously been awarded with the accolade.

Last year’s prize went to 30 Rock brain-child Tina Fey, who became the youngest person to receive the prize and only the third woman after Whoopi Goldberg and Lily Tomlin.

Ferrell recently appeared over the pond in the latest season of The Office for a few episodes to work with Steve Carell once again before he departed from the long-running comedy.
