36 Of Your All-Time Fave Kids Films The Critics Absolutely Hated
"Made solely to sell Talkboys (and let's not forget the pink Talkgirls) to kids." - Jason Morgan, FilmCritic.com on Home Alone 2: Lost In New York
When I was a kid, I lived right around the corner from a video shop*. While all the other kids in the neighbourhood were running around, scraping knees, climbing trees, and doing whatever the hell else TV has taught me kids do when they're having a good time, I was on my sofa, watching the latest 90s masterpiece.
Granted I may have developed a Vitamin D deficiency and only learned to ride a bike when I was 13, but seriously who needs to go outdoors when you could watch the richest kid in the world make friends, or a child spy make a proto Mean Girls burn book?
But even though The Mighty Ducks, Jumanji, Free Willy and My Girl may have been your absolute all-time favourite movies, those pesky movie critics didn't see them the same way. So we took a look through Rotten Tomatoes to find out which of your childhood faves the critics absolutely hated. Prepare to be outraged.
36 Classic 90s Kids Movies Which Critics Absolutely Hated
*00s kids - before Netflix you had to physically walk to a shop to physically choose and physically carry home a VHS tape in order to watch basically anything.
