Comedy Central UK commissions its first original show
Olivia Lee: Dirty Sexy Funny
Comedy Central commissions its first original show Olivia Lee: Dirty Sexy Funny, an 8 x 30 minute hidden camera series due to transmit in October 2009.
Inspired by the visual glamour and shallow social universes of TV series like Gossip Girl and Ugly Betty, and movies like The Devil Wears Prada, Comedy Central’s Olivia Lee: Dirty Sexy Funny is narrated by the voice of an anonymous, unseen “City Girl” blogger, who pens a Grazia/Belle de Jour style blog about London.
Comedy Central viewers will get front row seats to a ground-breaking hybrid of larger than life stunts played out with unsuspecting members of the public as part of the action, and scripted sketches featuring characters from Olivia and her crew.
Glamorous, sassy and mischievous, Olivia, in this super stylishly shot hidden camera show takes her very special brand of madness past a new level and out onto the streets. Some of Olivia’s characters include Miss Single, Ms Technophobe, the Door Bitch and an inimitable Lady Gatecrasher who invades a variety of major public events for maximum embarrassment (to herself) factor! What can’t Olivia get away with?
Comedy Central UK’s Director of Content, Sarah Farrell commissioned Tiger Aspect Productions to produce, Olivia Lee: Dirty Sexy Funny. The series producer and director is Chris Faith. Piers Torday is producer and Tiger Aspect Aspect head of entertainment Clive Tulloh is executive producer.
Clive Tulloh said, “It is marvellous to be working with Olivia and Comedy Central - the show will introduce Olivia’s wide array of shrewdly observed comedy creations. Her style is fresh and invigorating and a real shot in the arm for UK comedy.”
Sarah Farrell added, “This show, and Olivia herself, perfectly fit our brand; sassy, cheeky and beautifully urban. I can’t think of a more perfect start to the Comedy Central commissioning campaign than Olivia Lee: Dirty Sexy Funny.”
Olivia Lee: Dirty Sexy Funny is due to premiere on Comedy Central in October.
