Jack and Judy Geller

Jack and Judy Geller (Elliott Gould and Christina Pickles) are Ross and Monica’s hilarious parents.

Like many parents, Jack and Judy are embarrassing. Jack often makes highly inappropriate comments which he justifies with the classic: 'I’m just saying…!' While Judy prefers making condescending comments about Monica’s (lack of) love life and on occasion forgets that she even exists! The pair are much nicer to Ross than Monica, much to Monica’s annoyance and Ross’s amusement.

Ah, parents eh.

Rachel Green

Rachel Green is the fashionable, fun-loving man-magnet who has a very, very lovely haircut. The once-spoilt and pampered Ms Green arrives in Manhattan after fleeing her own wedding, where she almost got married to a guy called Barry who she found less attractive than a gravy boat. Cut off by her father (who cancels her credit cards) and taken in by ...

Monica Geller

Monica Geller is the bossy, competitive, cleanliness freak who somehow manages to be likeable. She’s the younger sister of Ross, best friend of Rachel and future wife of Chandler. Pre-Manhattan days, Monica was overweight but thanks to Chandler (Ross’s college roommate at the time) calling her fat at a Thanksgiving dinner, she shed the pounds and became ...

Phoebe Buffay

Phoebe Buffay is the daydreaming, song-singing weird and wonderful eccentric who’s a part-time masseuse and full-time nutjob. Until the age of 12, she lived in uptown New York but then her mother killed herself and she ended up on the street. Understandably, this has left her with a few quirks. Phoebe’s not the only Buffay in town: she has an evil twin ...

Joey Tribbiani

Joey Tribbiani is the good looking, food-loving mostly-out-of-work actor, who also happens to be something of a love-machine. Our Italian-American New Yorker, who’s the only male of eight children, is certainly not the sharpest sandwich in the lunchbox but is one of the most charming sandwiches you’re ever likely to meet. His passions in life are ...

Chandler Bing

Chandler Bing is the wisecrack-cracking data analyst-come-advertising copywriter who is astonishingly rubbish with women. He is the son of an erotic novelist mum and a cross-dressing drag queen dad, which probably has something to do with his issues. Despite Chandler’s uselessness on the romance front, he manages to get himself a few girlfriends along the ...

Ross Geller

Dr Ross Geller is the kinda hapless, slightly goofy palaeontologist who often prefers the company of dinosaurs and monkeys to human beings. Ross is the brother of Monica Geller with whom he shares an unhealthy sibling rivalry (unhealthy in a broken nose kind of way) and the on-off boyfriend/ex-boyfriend/husband (but not really) of Rachel Green, who he has ...

Gunther

Gunther (James Michael Tyler) is the manager of the most important place in Friends - the Central Perk coffee shop. He’s the man responsible for all those lattes that we see the gang guzzling in every episode. Gunther is kinda like the fifth Beatle, a third Ant N Dec or a long lost Spice Girl. i.e.: nearly one of the gang, but just not quite. Ross, Phoebe ...

Janice

Janice (Maggie Wheeler) is the on-off, then on-again-off-again, girlfriend of Chandler. She is best known for her, erm, unique sounding voice, her beyond-ridiculous laugh and her favourite line: “Oh… MY… GAWD!!” Despite her gob, Chandler falls for Janice on a number of occasions, hence her appearance in every single series of Friends. In fact, the pair ...

David

David (Hank Azaria) aka'the Scientist Guy' is the other of Phoebe’s two true loves in Friends. He’s a super nerdy physicist who falls head over heels for Ms Buffay in ‘The One with The Monkey’ and looks set to live happily ever after with her. But then he goes and spoils it all by saying something stupid like… “I’m moving to Minsk.” It’s a job opportunity ...
