Jane Leeves plays Daphne, the eccentric but warm-hearted Mancunian home-care worker who cares for Frasier’s Dad Martin (John Mahoney).
For years she is secretly adored by Frasier’s younger brother Niles and eventually breaks off her engagement to Donny Douglas and winds up married to Niles.
Jane was born on April 18th 1961 in London, but was raised in East Grinstead, Sussex by a contracts engineer and a nurse.
Her first dream was to be a ballerina, but that career was cut short by an ankle injury when she was 18.
She bounced back however with modelling and dancing on The Benny Hill Show and in the David Lee Roth video for the song California Girls.
Hr first film role was playing a topless angel in Monty Python’s The Meaning Of Life before she moved to Los Angeles, landing a few roles in TV comedies and dramas such as Murder, She Wrote, Who’s The Boss and Blossom.
Jane first caught the American public’s eye playing ‘Marla the virgin’ is a couple of Seinfeld episodes, before landing the part of Daphne Moon, a role that has earned her two Emmy nominations.
Jane is best friends with fellow Frasier star Peri Gilpin (Roz Doyle) and the pair have set up their own production company Bristol Cities, which is rhyming slang for – well, I’m sure you can work it out.
Jane currently lives in Los Angeles with her producer husband Marshall Coben, with whom she has two children, Isabella and Finn.
