Former ‘temp’ of The Office, Ryan Howard is young, sharp and has quickly figured out the real office politics despite Michael's best attempts to lead from the front.


Originally from the Boston area, B.J. Novak was born on July 31st. Aside from playing Ryan, B.J. Novak is also a writer and supervising producer for the series, having scripted several episodes of The Office including Diversity Day, Sexual Harassment, The Fire and Boys and Girls.


Novak has also appeared in several films including Empty City, opposite Adam Sandler and Don Cheadle, and Knocked Up and Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds.


Prior to The Office, Novak was best known for his improvised performances on the MTV hit show Punk'd, the celebrity prank show. His most famous performance on that show was as Hilary Duff's driving instructor. His other celebrity targets included Usher, Mya, and Jaime Pressley.


As a writer, Novak's credits include work on the film adaptation of the television spy series Get Smart, also starring Steve Carell.


Novak is also an established stand up comedian and was named one of Variety's Ten Comics to Watch back in 2003. He has performed on Comedy Central's Premium Blend and Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
