Full Biography
Michael Scott is regional manager of The Office. Single and middle-aged, he’s also our rather irritating tour guide around Dunder Mifflin.
With unshaken enthusiasm, Michael believes he IS the office funnyman; a fountain of business wisdom, his employees' ‘friend’.
Painstakingly desperate to be liked and look cool, Michael has no idea his employees merely tolerate him because he signs their payslips.
Alternately absurd and pathetic, his prized possession is his World's Greatest Boss mug - which he bought for himself.
This cringeworthy character is brought to life by the sublime Steve Carell. Born on August 16th in Concord, Massachusetts, Carell made his name as a correspondent on The Daily Show before flexing even more comic muscle on the big screen in Bruce Almighty opposite Jim Carrey and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy with Will Ferrell.
Steve really hit the big time with The 40 Year Old Virgin, which he co-wrote with director Judd Apatow.
The pair received a Writer's Guild of America nomination for Best Original Screenplay and the film was voted Best Comedy Film by the Broadcast Film Critics Association, simultaneously being chosen as one of the Top Ten movies of 2005 by the American Film Institute.
Notable other films include Dan in Real Life, Horton Hears a Who!, Little Miss Sunshine, and Get Smart and the recent collaboration with Tina Fey on Date Night.
Steve has received the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Comedy for his portrayal of Michael Scott and currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and their two children.
