Soon You Could Respect Cartman's Authority In A Virtual South Park World
E3 took over LA last week - for those not in the know, that's the biggest video games event of the year, where dreams go to live or die - and played host to hundreds of new games, consoles and characters. But one blew them all away: the new South Park interactive adventure, The Fractured But Whole (get it? Yeah, you get it).
The Fractured But Whole is the sequel to the 2014 game The Stick of Truth and features the South Park gang in full superhero mode, divided Captain America: Civil War-styles. And it looks awesome. Where else could you even hope to smack around Kyle and Stan?
More importantly, it looks like video games could be South Park's final form.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the show's co-creator Trey Parker said, "We know that this might be the future of South Park. This might be where things are going." Matt Stone agreed, "That convergence of entertainment, whether it’s VR or a more immersive thing. ... You watch young people, and the way they engage with something – shit, maybe that is the future of South Park."
These guys are all about the future. Visionaries, really. The future is South Park, and South Park is the future.
But do you know what this means? It means Cartman calling you a dumbass TO YOUR FACE. In VIRTUAL FREAKING REALITY. 360 degrees, vision everywhere, COME ON DOWN TO SOUTH PARK.
It's exhilerating, tbh. The world will never be the same.
