Back in 1979, one in ten Americans used illegal drugs on a regular basis. ONE IN TEN. 

THAT IS A LOT OF PEOPLE OFF THEIR TITS ON WASHING POWDER, RAT POISON AND 0.001% COLUMBIAN GOODSTUFF.

Cocaine was the market leader and ads from companies such as Sno-Blo (perveyor of the 'nose doucher' - 'the civilised alternative to wet fingers') and The Blue Lady made a LOT of cash from 'cocaine connoisseurs', AKA rich people with too much money.

How? With uber-sexy adverts that made you want to be as uber-sexy as the uber-sexy products and uber-sexy people in the uber-sexy adverts. It was all uber-sexy.
