5 Of The Best American Stand Ups You Might Not Have Heard Of

Educate yourself and enjoy!

We're now showing American sitcom Undateable (Tuesdays at 10pm), which stars stand up comedian Chris D'Elia. But he isn't the only American comic you should latch yourself onto.

Here are 5 of our favourite American stand ups, who you might not be aware of.

Educate yourself and enjoy!

1. Eugene Mirman

You may recognise from his voice from Bob's Burgers (he plays Gene) and his face from Flight Of The Concords, but Eugene Mirman is an amazing stand up comedian. If you're into anything a bit off beat and weird, he will be your cup of tea.

Watch him do his thing here:

2. Maria Bamford

If you don't like Maria Bamford then we don't want to be friends with you. She's the master of voices (she's the voice of loads of cartoon characters in programmes such as Adventure Time) and incorporates these in her stand up. It's whimsical, surreal and bloody hilarious.

Watch her in action here:

3. Kyle Kinane

His stand up involves incredibly well told self-depreceting personal stories and hilarious observations. He recorded his show Whiskey Icarus as a special for Comedy Central US and can listen to full audio of it for free on Spotify.

Here's a clip of him:

4. Tig Notaro

Tig Notaro's stand up is brutally honest and relatable. So honest, in fact, that she revealed she had breast cancer on stage. If you don't know who she is, then get familiar with her. Pronto.

You can watch one of her routines here:

5. Eddie Pepitone

Known as the 'Bitter Buddha', Eddie Pepitone's stand up is twisted, dark and so funny it'll make you laugh so hard your loved ones will worry for your health. His special called 'In Ruins' is one of the funniest hours of comedy you'll see, we higly reccommend it.
