"They didn’t die on the boat. They got washed up on a shore in a jungle island. The Queen gave birth to a baby boy. They built a treehouse. They got eaten by a leopard."
Words that shattered the world of ANY Disney fan who read a Reddit thread a while back, guest-starring Frozen creators. They discussed the TRUE fate of Anna and Elsa's parents. And that story sounds prettttyyyy familiar, no?
Let's start from the beginning. Frozen leads us to believe that King Agnarr and Queen Iduna died at sea. In actual fact, there was more to their story - they lived on a desert island for a while after their boat crashed, and had another child - who turned out to be pretty special.
You've got it now, right? Ringing bells?!
He was Tarzan.
In an interview with MTV, co-director Chris Buck explained all:
"When you're working on a feature, you have a lot of time to think about stuff because it takes four years to make one," he shared. "I think Jen [Lee, his co-director] and I were walking to a meeting, and I just start to tell her the entire story."
"I said, 'Of course Anna and Elsa's parents didn't die,'" he continued. "Yes, there was a shipwreck, but they were at sea a little bit longer than we think they were because the mother was pregnant, and she gave birth on the boat, to a little boy."
YES?! THEN WHAT?!
"They get shipwrecked, and somehow they really washed way far away from the Scandinavian waters, and they end up in the jungle. They end up building a tree house and a leopard kills them, so their baby boy is raised by gorillas."
WAIT. THAT MEANS... COULD IT BE?!
"In my little head, Anna and Elsa's brother is Tarzan... That's my fun little world," he finished.
OURS TOO. ARGHHHHHHH!
"Whatever people want to believe, go for it," he said. "That's the spirit of Disney."
