Who'dve thunk it? All these years you've been eating dressing-less salad and making us pay up for your weak-ass marathon attempts, when you could've just been sat at home watching Friends.
Yes, that's right, laughing uncontrollably can burn up to 120 calories an hour and therefore could be the secret to staying slim.
But we obviously knew that anyway, right? We were always just trying to help.
Dr Helen Pilcher and Timandra Harkness conducted the research, which also discovered that gentler belly laughs can burn 100 calories an hour.
Other research shows that laughter helps tone the stomach by activating abdominal muscles.
"This report raises the joyous possibility that watching comedy shows can help you to shape your six pack by targeting internal oblique muscles more effectively than sit-ups," said Dr Pitcher.
