Lupita Nyong’o To Star In Film Adaption Of Trevor Noah’s ‘Born A Crime’

CANNOT. WAIT. FOR. THIS.

We’ve all read Trevor Noah’s autobiographical book, 'Born a Crime', right?

Comedy Central

Well in case you haven’t (and you really should have), it’s his story of growing up in post-apartheid South Africa as a mixed race child, which at the time was a crime (hence the title).

The book takes you through his journey of growing up never really fitting in, turning to extreme behaviours such as stealing a car and selling illegal CDs in dangerous neighbourhoods.

The book focuses on his mother, someone who he believes taught him how to be a man by laying down the laws of crime and punishment, and giving him some good ol’ tough love.

May we add that his mother, Patricia Nombuyiselo Noah, was also shot in the head by his father in 2009 after returning from a Church service, and survived.

It’s touching, it’s inspirational, and it’s a New York Times bestseller (was so for a whole 26 weeks!). Do you really need more convincing?

We know who DIDN’T need more convincing, Golden Globe and Oscar winner... LUPITA NYONG'O.

She recently agreed to join Noah in co-producing the FILM ADAPTION of the book, AND star in it as his MOTHER.

We really can’t think of a more talented actress for the part.

Trevor will be producing the film with Ark Angel productions as well as Norman Aladjem, Derek Van Pelt and Sanaz Yamin of Mainstay Entertainment, and of course Lupita.

But while you wait for this AMAZING movie to be released, you can catch Lupita in Black Panther which is in cinemas right now. Get your dose of the excellent Trevor Noah on The Daily Show on Comedy Central.
