Chandler and his father had a… unique relationship on Friends.
And as it turns out, even more so IRL. In fact, the on-screen father and son relationship is a pretty great reflection of what they’re like off camera.
Kathleen Turner, who played the role of Chandler Bing's father Charles (and the male burlesque star Helena Handbasket) is actually STILL in touch with Matt.
And they’re SO close, that apparently Matt calls Kathleen ‘Dad’.
When asked if this was true, Kathleen told the Daily Mail:
“Yes, he does.”
WE. ARE. SHOOK.
We’d never have imagined that the two’s relationship would still be so close all these years on. Like, GOALS.
However, Kathleen recently revealed that she believes the sitcom hasn't 'aged well'.
That said, Kathleen was very happy when she was offered the role, telling Sunday Brunch that:
'I was touring a one-woman show based on Tallulah Bankhead, and David Crane, who is one of the creators of 'Friends' came up to see the show and he came back and he asked me if I would consider playing Chandler's father.'
'It really is one of the silliest things I've ever done.
'I thought, "Well, a woman playing a man playing a woman... I haven't done that yet. Why not?"'
We’re SO glad she accepted the job and played her iconic role on Friends.
