Any Friends fan knows of the infamous beach scene in 'The One With The Jellyfish', right? It happened in the season premiere of Series 4, perhaps remembered less for its comedy and more for its medical advisory content...
In the episode, Joey and Chandler are sure the only way to heal the pain of Monica's piscine predicament is to urinate on it.
Which surprise surprise, is not a good idea whatsoever...
The episode's instruction was raised recently on This Morning, where Dr. Zoe Williams gave actual, medically efficient advice on how to deal with such a fishy issue.
"Jellyfish stings are not usually very serious, but they are very, very painful," she cautioned.
"There are lots of myths around what you should do, such as the classic one they used on Friends – peeing on a jellyfish sting. Don’t’ do that."
No golden shower can ever quell the agony, it seems. Sorry 'bout it.
It could even cause further infection, she warned...
"It’s not going to help, and it could actually make things worse... it can increase the risk of infection, so do not pee on a jellyfish sting."
Well, that's us told. To pee or not to pee, that is the question. 'No' is the answer.
