Meet the "Ceratopogonidae" or the "midge"
They used to have kinda a bad rep, but this summer they're about to become...
...Your best friend!
There's a hot new trend where social media users proudly posing for pics with their midge bites
Today on the wall.... A big welcome for the first time this year to ..... The midges!!!!!! pic.twitter.com/HDz1hMWjEM— Callum Gray (@mullacyarg) June 4, 2015
Like, our intern found more than two instances of users doing this
Which makes them this summer's must have
Remember vajazzles? Well now it's time for midgeazzlegs
It's also a really funky social event
Best of all, it's ethically sourced fashion and good for the environment!
I'm such a committed conservationist, I've donated some bodily fluid to help the midge population. B******s!! pic.twitter.com/ZDiOMjf1ti— Peter Cairns (@northshots) June 19, 2015

Midge ur(e) making us super stoked for summer!
Been biking in the Scottish Borders for a few days. Was great fun but I got demolished by the midges. Worst creature ever invented. Inside of the lower part of my left leg. 36 bites. Too many to count elsewhere. Arms. Face. Legs. So F'ing itchy!! Little shits. Worth it? Not sure. Ask me in a few days. #mountainbiking #hotwork #midges #bites #itchy #scotland #ilovethesun #butihatemidges #owww
