People Are Ripping The S**t Out Of This Guy's Totally Fake Viral Tweet

Hello Mikey...

Let's be real for a second: everyone wants to go viral.

The likes. The RTs. The favstar bot notifications. It's literally the dream.

Well, Twitter user @Taylor_Mikey_ ended up living the dream yesterday, when his account appeared to be hacked by an elderly woman after he left it logged in at a public library...

Obviously this was bound to be a surefire hit: public embarassment, a cute old woman, a topical Happy New Year shout out. It was fresh. It was vital. It was super, duper shareable. There's just one problem: it was totally fucking fake.

Yep, turns out that "Jane", the cute old woman, was actually a random Pinterest user called Barbara Olsen.

Mikey hasn't replied to Madison (actually, he blocked her), but that didn't stop an army of betrayed RTers and onlookers from mercilessly ripping the piss out of Mikey's piece of shit viralbait.

First, they went for the animals...

Like, a lot of animals...

Then it all went a bit surreal...

Before a healthy dose of nostalgia...

And memes within memes...

And, obviously, we got in on the action...

Happy New Year, people, and may all your virals be fact-checked and accurate!
