River Rat Burgers Are A Thing Now… And Apparently They’re Delicious

Mmmm... Tasty.

If there’s one gift hipsters have given to the world, it’s the reinvention of the humble burger.

Gone are the days when we were satisfied with a simple beef patty topped with a slice of processed cheese and a leaf of limp lettuce. And that's a good thing. But this latest makeover has taken the whole thing a step too far.

A restaurant in Russia is serving up rat burgers. And no, we’re not talking about those dodgy looking sandwiches you can pick up from a roadside van at 5am. We mean real, honest-to-goodness RATS IN A BURGER.

Moscow's Krasnodar Bistro is serving up cooked river rats in a soft bun with a dollop of relish. For just 500 Roubles. You can also stuff your face with river rat hotdogs, dumplings and a rat-stuffed cabbage leaf.

“It’s a really clean animal,” restauranteur and chef Takhir Kholikberdiev told The Guardian

“Not only is it a herbivore but it washes all its food before it eats. And it’s very high in omega-3 acids. A lot of doctors and dieticians recommend it.”

Yeah… we’ll give it a miss, thanks.
