If there’s one gift hipsters have given to the world, it’s the reinvention of the humble burger.
Gone are the days when we were satisfied with a simple beef patty topped with a slice of processed cheese and a leaf of limp lettuce. And that's a good thing. But this latest makeover has taken the whole thing a step too far.
A restaurant in Russia is serving up rat burgers. And no, we’re not talking about those dodgy looking sandwiches you can pick up from a roadside van at 5am. We mean real, honest-to-goodness RATS IN A BURGER.
Moscow's Krasnodar Bistro is serving up cooked river rats in a soft bun with a dollop of relish. For just 500 Roubles. You can also stuff your face with river rat hotdogs, dumplings and a rat-stuffed cabbage leaf.
“It’s a really clean animal,” restauranteur and chef Takhir Kholikberdiev told The Guardian.
“Not only is it a herbivore but it washes all its food before it eats. And it’s very high in omega-3 acids. A lot of doctors and dieticians recommend it.”
Yeah… we’ll give it a miss, thanks.
