My relationship with superhero movies is like my love affair with fried chicken: every meal is the same, and I know it's killing me slowly, but fuck I just can't stop ordering dat sweet breast fillet meal with extra hot wings every Friday night.
Superhero movies have been a Box Office Top 10 staple since the heady days of 2000's X-Men, and they're definitely not going anywhere soon. Reboot after reboot. Shared Universes growing faster than our own. A new Star Wars movie every Christmas until the oil runs out and the world is plunged into unending darkness forever more. We may not ~need~ a hero, but we're gonna get one anyway. Sort of like a new Tim Burton movie.
